MIA “Kala”

miaalbum.jpg   MIA - You love her or you hate her. Her new album KALA has been one of the most addicting records I’ve listened to all year. It’s not because stylistically, musically, or lyrically I think the record is any good; but rather because of its chaotic almost violent nature. Track 11 called Paper Planes is by far my favorite track. Is because it has a series of machine guns unloading rounds in the chorus? This could be why.

I’m so attached to the weird, sporadic, yet upbeat nature of her tracks. Possibly because it works as the perfect soundtrack to the chaotic/a.d.d ways my thoughts work…..Pick it up. Give her a chance if you haven’t yet. MIA is in a league of her own and is as fresh and loud as it’s going to get. Considering Gwen’s last poor attempt for a solo album, she sound have been opening up for MIA – not the other way around.
