It feels really good to be getting excited about music again. There was about a six month period where I had such little faith in humanities ability to rock and roll that I almost cut off my ears and became a catholic monk. But recently I have been getting excited about a lot of records and I think thats pretty cool.
Today I received the new Blaqk Audio record in the mail. The beautiful thing about working at a company whom also does music supervision is we not only get the records but we get the instrumental versions of records as well. Not that this really matter as I don’t DJ and/or have any real need for it, but I just figured I’d brag and perhaps make myself look more like a bad ass (primarily because my bad ass level is already high, but what the hell I may as well improve my ratio even more). With this new record titled “Cex Cells”, Davey portrays a metaphorical titled for what this group is all about.
I honestly am beginning to think that Davey Havok is a genius. I actually don’t even particularly enjoy his voice, but the actual songs he writes are all concrete. The man is a hit factory. Every aspect of every project he works with are always original, clever and well marketed. Even band names “A Fire Inside” and “Blaqk Audio” are clever and flow really well. Logos for both bands are top notch and the imagery of each group are well thought out.
I will venture to say Davey Havok is one of the strongest songwriters of our generation. If he wasn’t limited by his niche appearance and antithetic voice, he would be a much larger mega star then he already is. I personally would love to see him write a song with Justin Timberlake, Ne-yo or Kanye West on one of their future records. I think this would be one of the most exciting songs ever written in rock history. Davey I tip my hat you you, you have proved me wrong. Cex does Cell.

its nice to see davey get some recognition, but it’s jade that does nearly all of the song writing. davey writes the lyrics and some of the melodies, most of the music is done by jade.
