Lupe Fiasco, Gym Class Heroes, The Pack, Pharrell  have all surfaced to the forefront of mainstream hip hop for many reasons – but the most intriguing is the overwhelming popularity and acceptance of the Hip Hop / Sk8ter/ Rock fusion. Hip Hippity Hoppers have always found interesting ways to fuse in different styles into their overall lifestyle. Some may say they’re just biters, but they don’t really steal styles and trends – rather they embrace it and morph it into their own. Pharrell for example is an icon in the hip hop rock fusion (well – we can go way back to Run DMC and Aerosmith, but we’ll stay a little more current.) He embodies the cool laid back aura of a skater, while adding a kick of attitude and urban twist to combo. If you ask me, a free wam bam pass go card into the mainstream audience filled with easily influenced little boys and girls that dig the new convergence of these two very different styles. Perfect example of another huge media sensation that falls in the same fusion recipe  - BIG AND ROB. Just look at their picture – enough said.    = MTV reality series sensation (see next blog) 

So since this trend has reached its climax – my prediction in the new wave of cool is Electronic Rock(The Presents, The Rapture, Justice) and the revival of Raves with more tight jeaned rock, then glow stick jungle. I’ll be at the next Justice dance tent. Hit me up. Let’s dance.
