Ok, we get it, the songs about you

With the recent hotness of writing songs with meanings about a specific person it has become even more popular for said people to ride the wave of the songs fame and milk it for everything its worth. The concept is extremely sad to me, because I would really hate to be famous because someone else wrote a song that happened to be loosely based on my relationship with said person before they were even cool.

This kind of fame is probably the worst kind of fame. Its the kind of thing where everyone knows “who you are” (in the sense that they know said song and therefore know its about some random) but no one actually cares. Its the only situation where you are famous enough that everyone at a restaurant will know the song yet will not care about you in particular. Recently “Hey Chris” of Fallout Boy’s track Hey Chris fame has been riding the wave with his website and spoken word cd’s (which sell less then a Tela Tequila single). Hey is doing everything he can to milk it, even trying to pick a fight with the band about not being straight edge enough or perhaps about a tshirt they once wore, I am not really sure what it was about and to be honest don’t care. The point is this guy is doing the best he can to milk at the music teet as long as possible, and really hasn’t gotten anywhere. Its like dating a girl and getting to first base really fast but then spending the next five years being cock blocked from anything further. You brag a lot at the start but in the end, your still gonna die alone.

Another said fake-lebrity is Delilah whos popularity is derived from Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah” the current Top 40 chart topper. Articles and photo shoots of Delilah are popping up everywhere and I still have yet to engage in the reading of a single one. It will be extremely interesting to see what happens, I am mildly curious to see how far Delilah can milk it. With that said the reality is she will probably be nothing more then a really popular fast food clerk.
