All Hail Soulja Boy! Although – yes, one hit wonder for sure (maybe two). But because I’m a new media fiend, props to Interscope for living on the edge and naming his actual physical album souljaboytellem.com . Hats off to interscope for making a ballsy move and placing there bets on his official website. They bypassed pushing the single on radio and went straight for where it counts these days. The Internet! They just did a major overhaul on his official site (www.souljaboytellem.com) and made a mini myspace to embrace Soulja’s nationwide Superman sensation. Type in Soulja Boy in You Tube – you’ll know what I mean. Fans up the yin yang are doing the Superman dance to his single “Crank That”. I admit it – it’s catchy as hell and who doesn’t like to pretend their Superman with hops?
It’s the second wave of hip hop one hit wonders this summer. The first was MIMS “This Is Why I’m Hot” – but the downfall of MIMS was that the label just let the single ride the wave traditionally through radio, instead of embracing new media and keeping up with the single on the net. Bye bye MIMS- Soulja in my eyes official kicked your ass. Although Soulja might as well be hanging next to the Pussy Cat Dolls on the Interscope marketing puppet doll rack. (And Fergie, Gwen, and 50 cent….but who’s really counting)

For those who didnt know, Soulja Boy been filling up
everything he been on or in since January. Soulja Boy was doing bigger numbers than 5o b4 he even hit mainstream. ACTUALLY STARTING WITH COLLIEPARK TO INTERSCOPE AND UNIVERSAL RECORDS, NEITHER ONE PLAYED ANY ROLL IN HIS SUCCESS. SOULJA BOY ACTUALLY COMPRIMISSED WHAT WAS GOING TO B A VERY PROFITABLE SUMMER
OF NONSTOP VENUE FILLING TOUR TO BECOME AN INDUSTRY CHRONIE. ASK ME HOW I KNOW, IVE BEEN WORKIN HIS PROJECT, SET’N SHOWS ALL AROUND THE WORLD, YEAH WORLD. THE KID HAD NEED FOR A PASSPORT SINCE JAN 07. IT AINT AN PAWN IN THE GAME CAN TOUCH HIS GRIND, UNFORTUNATELY HE CHOSE TO GIVE IT ALL UP TO 2B SEEN OF MEN.
