Articles I’m following

September 19th, 2007 · No Comments

As a blogger and member of the music industry, I spend a lot of time following news and various events. Perhaps because I have a genuine interest and need to know but more likely out of shear boredom. I am not sure which is more likely, and I kind of think (know) it doesn’t really matter, but its just the reality. At various times in the week I post on topics I find somewhat humorous and or interesting (typically both as humorous events are the most interesting of events). There are, however, some things I read that I don’t post. For whatever reason, wither its merely someones opinion or a topic that doesn’t typically coincide with what Radio Kills typically publishes, I do not highlight them even though they deserve the recognition.

I was just reading Bigger Than Sound on MTV.com and decided to following James Montgomery’s concept of posting “articles I am following” in a section. Enjoy:

James Montgomery’s Bigger Than Sound:
I suppose its fitting seeing how the idea was ripped off from him, but I think the article he wrote is pretty spot on. It’s always interesting to think about what was avoided when an album was shelfed. If only Kelly Clarkson would have listened to her label!!

Kanye West Vs. 50 Cent Album sales:
In all honesty, who isn’t following this? This is actually something I should have a seperate post about, but its talked about everywhere and I feel this blog has been over saturated with Kanye/50 posts so I will spare you and merely post it in here. However, this is extremely important because it shows that people are still interested in buying music if

Why Portland Is America’s Indie Rock Mecca:
I suppose if you don’t live in Portland (which I don’t) this article is probably completely irrelevant to you but it is interesting. Portland and Seattle have always been known for its indie rock scenes. This is encouraging me to write about the “top 10 cities for indie rock”… Could be fun.

Nominees for the MTVU Woodie Awards:
I suppose I enjoy a good award show based on talent and not popularity. Its tough to accept any credibility since it is related to a TV channel that features a show where a contestant dates 3 peoples mothers, but oh well. Check out some nominees on Billboard.

Talk Like a Pirate Day:
Last but certainty not least its Talk Like a Pirate Day. I fully intend to celebrate.
