I’ve been in a relationship for sometime now - and since the beginning have been very adamant about not wanting to change my “status” to In A Relationship. Let’s be honest - at first people don’t change it right away for “Just in Case” reasons. You want to make sure you’re still known as “Available” to those 3rd degree not really my friends, but they’re on my myspace friends list- so now you are officially my friend friend (that I could potential date later). Well - I don’t really give a rats butthole if the whole world knows im in a relationship, but now I’m at the point where the whole STATUS and overall ABOUT ME section really just bugs. It’s become some symbolic trophy case where people list out all the music they listen to, what they read, what they’re jobs are, their relationship status. But I can confidently say that about 95% of the myspacers that take the time to fill out the ABOUT ME section really take the time to not just jot down their “fav” things - but to highlights those that help to morph their identities into this person they hope to be perceived as, but probably can’t 110% get across in real life. So they use the About Me as back up. You know - so you can really super duper impress those 3rd degree friends (now super best online friends of yours).
