Heath Ledger - Overnight Legend

January 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

It’s amazing how quickly word spreads - especially when it’s regarding a young celebrities death. Yes - I have to talk about it, Heath Ledger’s passing away yesterday at 3:30pm in Manhattan. We all loved him, mourn for him, and wished we could have seen so much more from him in the coming years - we all agree on this.

What I really wanted to point out - is how fast the news spread across the country. It made wildfire look a little firecracker. Within an hour of his death I received literally 10 IMs, 4 texts, and mention on the conference call I was on - of his death. Every big news dot come quickly got up the breaking news - making sure that they weren’t left in the dust from their competitors. Then you turn on Larry King Live 2 hours later - and he has a Heath Special going on with a live reporter outside Heath’s apartment. Although he was gorgeous and an amazing actor - I had no idea the country loved him so much. Or did they? Does passing away automatically make someone an Overnight Legend and categorized in the same bucket a River Phoenix, Jimmy Hendrix and all the young hopefuls that passed away so early. It’s interesting that throughout history one’s art is more recognized and credible after they pass away…….

R.I.P Heath
