Although I am a strong supporter of purchasing digital music and typically consume all my music in that fashion, I do support indie stores and would love to see them survive. I remember when I was a kid and would go spend hours at the local record store just browsing the aisles and listening to whatever was featured on the listening stations. As posted in a previous blog, that is an amazing part of how I grew up consuming music.

That said, I wanted to highlight National Record Store Day. Taken from the website:

“On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.”

Check out the site, hopefully the stores coordinate a cool promotion and don’t drop the ball. This will be a good sign to see if these niche accounts are going to be able to “survive the storm”.
