Man Man - Mr. Jung Stuffed

May 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Just posted a new music video for Man Man. The track is Mr. Jung Stuffed and the video is provocative. If you are into cartoons then you may get turned off. I wouldn’t say it’s NSFW because as long as things are animated they can really do whatever they want in the eyes of corporate America. Well maybe not, but who cares. Fight the man.

Breaking News: Guitar Hero IV to include drums

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

That’s right Ryan Garcia, Guitar Hero IV will officially include drums. This is a big step for the game and one that will likely solidify Guitar Hero as the Myspace of the electronic gaming world. What I mean by that is, Myspace always seems to be trying to rip off Facebook (yes, I know they have to). My jokes suck, why do I even blog. Oh my blog!

Shotstar Designs

May 14th, 2008 · No Comments

It has been a long time since I have designed. Previous to working at record labels I owned a design studio for two years working freelance on various projects. Recently my friend Isaac Rentz decided to sell me his mac fully loaded with a bunch of design crap. A big reason I stopped designing in the first place was I couldn’t bare doing so on this computer. Victory’s amazing computer set up spoiled me and kind of ruined it.

Anywho, with the new digs I may get back in the game for fun, or maybe not. At any rate here is some stuff I did back i the day.

Foo Fighters Show Rider

May 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Bands show riders are wonderful, primarily bands that are big enough to actually warrant a show rider. If your band is drawing a hundred kids to safari sams, you probably shouldn’t have one. Better yet, the show should have a rider for you. At any rate, the Foo Fighters have sold one or two records in their day, and their rider is on par with album sales.

Head over to The Smoking Gun to read their entire show rider, one that includes witty banter that is on par with many of the bands music videos.

Chicago Show Ordinance

May 12th, 2008 · No Comments

An ordinance has recently been proposed to the Chicago City Council that would put difficult restrictions on concert and theater promoters in that city. This ordinance would severely hinder the ability for local artists and smaller touring bands to be able to perform in the city of Chicago as well as potentially forcing landmark venues such as The Metro to be unable to afford to effectively put on smaller shows.

From savechicagoculture.org:

The “Event Promoters” ordinance requires any event promoter to have a license from the city of Chicago and liability insurance of $300,000, but that’s just the start:

* The definition of “event promoter” is so loosely defined it could apply to a band that books its own shows or a theater company that’s in town for a one-week run.
* “Event Promoter” must be licensed and will pay $500 - $2000 depending on expected audience size.
* To get the license, applicant must be over 21, get fingerprinted, submit to a background check, and jump over several other hurdles.
* This ordinance seems targeted towards smaller venues, since those with 500+ permanent seats are exempt.
* Police must be notified at least 7 days in advance of event.

You can read the entire ordinance here and make up your own mind as to what should be done. You can sign the petition against the ordinance at savechicagoculture.org.

Pope goes digital to better connect with youth

May 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Check this article out — everyones going mobile! Even the pope!

From Yahoo

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict will text message thousands of young Catholics on their mobile phones during World Youth Day in Sydney in July, hoping going digital will help him connect better with a younger audience.

The Pope will text daily messages of inspiration and hope during the six-day Sydney event while digital prayer walls will be erected at event sites and the church will set up a Catholic social networking Web site akin to a Catholic Facebook.

The Catholic Church said it decided to use technology to connect to the estimated 225,000 young Catholics expected to attend the World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations that start on July 15.

“We wanted to make WYD08 a unique experience by using new ways to connect with today’s tech-savvy youth,” Bishop Anthony Fisher said in a statement on Wednesday.

Australian telecoms firm Telstra will provide voice, data, mobile, broadband and broadcast services for the event, as well as erect digital prayer walls at event sites.

Telstra said it plans to connect 8,000 volunteers, 2,000 clergy, 3,000 media and an anticipated 225,000 pilgrims to more than 700 locations around Sydney.

Australia’s Catholic nuns are already praying for good weather for the Pope’s visit.

The Catholic church is the biggest in Australia with about 5 million members, compared to about 4 million Anglicans among the nation’s 21 million people.
